Dry the River - No Rest

As a class we listened to this song and tried to come up with an idea for a music video. We also thought about the emotions that we felt were in the song. Together we thought there were themes of sadness, heartbreak and love. By looking at these themes we then constructed a music video in our heads and shared our ideas.

My idea was a man walking down a busy street and slowly falling apart by crumbling into ash. I thought that to begin with he could walk normally and proud and by the end he is reduced to a limb before crumbling into a pile of ash. I think that this would be a good way to convey the way that someone feels after having their heart broken. I also wanted to make it imaginative and not just a boring cliche heartbreak music video.

One of my classmates thought of a video that started with a wedding then cut to pictures of them single and then reversing the time line so that they never met. I thought this was a good idea as it sounds different and not like the average music video. I think it is very imaginative and gets across all the themes of the song.

Another one of my classmates went for the more classic choice were the singer walks down the street slowly and sings and finds his girlfriend in a cafe with another man. This is a typical choice for a heartbreak song and similar things have been done before. Although the video would fit with the song I don't think it is very imaginative and could turn out to be quite boring but it would also be cheap. This would be good if there was a low budget for the video.
