Analysing A2 Music Videos
This is a student made music video. It features many shots of the performer and is very centred around selling the new artist. The artist appears in many places and there are a range of shots. There is a combination of close -ups and long shots which shows off the artists image and personality.
There are shots of the artist smoking which may not be allowed to be shown on television as it may influence children and teenagers to smoke or do drugs. Even if it is on television parents may not like what the artist is insinuating in the smoking shots. This makes the amount of people the artist can reach smaller.
There are some very good and inventive uses of editing such as the different filters and visual effects. The pace of the shots go very well with the music and also there is a good variety of locations. There are some plain studio settings and other more urban and run down area's these settings juxtapose each other. An interesting shot I liked is the shot were the artists shadow is being filmed, I thought it was very creative and looked very professional.
The artist wears a variety of different clothes and this helps to show off the artists image and help the audience understand what type of person the artist is. She dresses like most teenagers which may help them relate to her and also help her gain fans.
I think this was a good but not great video as the artist was presented very well and there were some interesting shots. I did think some of it did get very repetitive and there could have been more variation in the shots as a lot were repeated or slightly modified. Another thing the video did well was get the pace of the shots to match the song.
