During today's lesson we focused on capturing creative shots
to inter-cut with the performance that has now been shot in entirety (with
yesterday's re-shoot). To go alongside the close-up shots of unusual objects, we
took some static and action shots of Rock Em' Sock Em' Robots, bringing
in a 60's reference, similar to the Lava Lamp. Following this, we created a
stop-motion sequence of the chorus line "MUST BE THE SEASON OF THE
WITCH" being frantically scrawled onto a whiteboard. Creating this with
simple frame-by-frame animation, Ben suggested it would be easiest to write out
the lines first, and then take an image after letters are erased from the end;
the sequence then to be put in reverse.
I am pleased with the outcome of this sequence, as it will work nicely to inter-cut during the chorus in the video, and it can also be used as an overlay, placed above footage, to be reminiscent of old scratchy film effects and graphics such as those that I have experimented with.
